“… and you have this understanding that many diffe “… and you have this understanding that many different people have ways of hav[ing] their own truths and they have ways of being right and believing that are different from our own.

This, my friends, is something that we can carry from our reading of novels into conversations with our families, with our friends, with people who may not agree with us about everything …” —Barbara Kingsolver

A beautiful reminder of fiction's power to broaden our perspectives and help us better understand one another.

We had the incredible pleasure of welcoming Barbara Kingsolver to a sold-out audience last night to celebrate the release of her newest book, “Partita.”

Thank you, Barbara, for sharing your wisdom, humor, and love of storytelling with Pittsburgh. Anna Singer for the gorgeous conversation, and thank you to everyone who joined us for such a memorable evening!

A special thank you to Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Music for peppering the evening with the wonderful piano performances from Ella Sumanaseni and Larsen Vincent.
