Finding the Carnegie Music Hall

From the parking lot

Once in the parking lot, make sure you are at the top level where you can see the Museum building. Next to the outdoor Sculpture Garden, there is a large glass entryway to the Museum of Art with power assist doors. Pass the security desk and take the elevator or stairs to the first floor of the Museum. Follow the path to your left down the length of the building. You will pass the Museum stores, the Halls of Sculpture and Architecture, and another security desk before arriving at the Music Hall Foyer. This entire path is physically accessible.

Drop-offs:

If you are being dropped off at the Music Hall, use the Carriage Drive entrance on Forbes Avenue. On the right-hand side of Forbes, just past the large Music Hall doors and where the Natural History Museum’s entrance is located, there is a half-circle, one-way driveway that can be used for drop-offs. Once inside the lobby, head to your right into the Music Hall Foyer. This drop-off location is physically accessible.

For New & Noted, Made Local, Words & Pictures & Poets Aloud

Please note that the entrance to the Carnegie Library Lecture Hall faces Schenley Drive (near the Frick Fine Arts Building and the yellow bridge by Phipps Conservatory).

From the parking lot:

Once in the parking lot, make sure you are at the very top level of the garage. When facing the elevators, there is a pathway to the left that takes you around the outside of the building. This pathway slopes slightly upwards and will take you to the front doors of the Lecture Hall.

Drop-offs:

If you are being dropped off at the Lecture Hall, instruct your driver to stop on Schenley Drive, just in between the Frick Fine Arts Building and the yellow bridge by Phipps Conservatory. You will see city parking along the sidewalk, and the sidewalk branches off on a leveled path that leads straight to the Lecture Hall doors. Click here for Google Maps coordinates.

Entering the Hall:

There are steps with a railing leading up to the Lecture Hall doors. To the right-hand side of these steps is a powered lift entrance. Security guards will be outside to assist you with the lift.

If you would prefer to not use a lift, an alternative entrance is available through the Portal Entry in the parking lot. This internal path to the hall can be tricky, so please contact us in advance of your visit if this is your preference and we can arrange for someone to meet you at the Portal Entry and guide you through the building.
