Jim Rugg

“A thoughtful look at the pressures to conform and the importance of self-expression.”

SCHOOL LIBRARY JOURNAL

Jim Rugg is a Pittsburgh-based comic book artist, illustrator, and designer who collaborated with author Cecil Castellucci on the cult classic graphic novel The PLAIN Janes in 2007. The PLAIN Janes are back in a complete graphic novel collection with a never-before-seen third story. The Janes and their secret art gang are sure to be a hit with young adult readers.

Jim’s other books include Street Angel, AfrodisiacNotebook Drawings, and Supermag. He is a recipient of both the Eisner and Ignatz Awards and he teaches visual storytelling at the School of Visual Arts and the Animation Workshop in Denmark.

“The story is filled with unforced insights about the role of art in our lives, and Jim Rugg’s understated illustrations let these moments glimmer quietly on the page.”
