In 1980, a record-breaking thunderstorm unleashed In 1980, a record-breaking thunderstorm unleashed a disastrous amount of water on the tiny town of Brady’s Bend. Author and Brady’s Bend native Lisa Olszak Zumstein tells this community’s story in full in her book, "The Brady’s Bend Flood of 1980," revealing how this devastating storm mirrors numerous others in the Appalachian corridor. Join Zumstein on Thursday, June 18th, as she discusses the flood’s lasting impact, the resilience of a small river town, and what this local disaster can teach us about a region still shaped by water, weather, and memory.
