Hear award winning author and illustrator Mo Willems, who will discuss his life, career, and creative process with Jane Werner, Executive Director of the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh. Conversation followed by a Q&A with the audience. Educators, librarians, and aspiring children’s book authors won’t want to miss this event!

#1 New York Times Bestselling author and illustrator Mo Willems is best known for his Caldecott Honor winning picture books Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! and Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale. He recently celebrated publication of the 25th and final book in his long-running Elephant and Piggie series, which has twice won the Theodor Seuss Geisel Medal.

Mo’s drawings and sculptures have exhibited in numerous galleries and museums across the nation, including major retrospectives at The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art in Amherst, MA, the High Museum in Atlanta, GA, the New-York Historical Society, and the Seongnam Arts Center in Seoul, South Korea. His graphic story about his family experiences during 9-11 for DC comics resides in the Library of Congress’ permanent collection.

The Pigeon Comes to Pittsburgh: A Mo Willems Exhibit will premiere at Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh on February 17, 2018! This play-and-learn exhibit features many familiar characters including best friend duo Elephant and Piggie, faithful companion Knuffle Bunny, and The Pigeon, the wily city bird best known for his antics in Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!

Tickets for this lecture are currently sold out. Additional seats may become available on the day of the lecture due to returns. These seats are sold on a first-come, first-served basis between 3 and 4 p.m. that evening.
Tickets for the kid-friendly reading with Mo hosted by the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh on Saturday, February 17 go on sale December 19th.
