Only a few more days until Beth Macy joins us at Carnegie Music Hall as the next speaker in our Ten Evenings series. In her most personal and powerful work yet, "Paper Girl," Macy returns to her small Ohio hometown of Urbana to reckon with the forces that have reshaped it—and so many American communities like it. What she finds is a town transformed by economic loss, a mental health crisis, and deepening divisions, including the spread of dangerous conspiracies and the erosion of civic life. By taking us into the heart of one place she once called home, Macy brings into focus the urgent national issues shaping our present moment.
