The hour long book talk and reading will take place on Thursday, August 7th at 6 pm at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh Main Branch on Forbes Avenue in Oakland, followed by a book signing with Thomas Sweterlitsch.  The event is scheduled to be held in the Quiet Reading Room on the 1st floor.

The event is free and open to the public, with registration requested.  Event registration is available online at or by calling Pittsburgh Arts & Lectures at 412.622.8866.  Independent bookseller Mystery Lovers Bookshop will be on site for book sales.

Pittsburgh writer Thomas Sweterlitsch visits Writers LIVE with his gritty debut novel Tomorrow and Tomorrow, a Blade Runner meets Google Glass dystopian mystery. The novel, set ten years after Pittsburgh was destroyed in a terrible accident, focuses on the secrets of the Archive, a digital recreation of the Steel City pre-destruction, that allows for interaction with lost people and places.  Grieving survivor John Dominic Blaxton is obsessed with the Archive, and unintentionally finds glitches in the code that reveals a horrific secret.  Stewart O’Nan says “Sweterlitsch’s debut is a wild mashup of Raymond Chandler, Philip K. Dick and William S. Burroughs, and, like their work, utterly visionary.”

Thomas Sweterlitsch received his master’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University specializing in literary and cultural theory and worked for twelve years at Carnegie Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped in Pittsburgh.  Tomorrow and Tomorrow has been sold in four countries and optioned for a film by Sony.  Thomas lives in Pittsburgh with his wife, artist Sonia Sweterlitsch, and their young daughter.

Writers LIVE @ CLP-Main is a series of free book talks and readings by authors with a literary or personal connection to Pittsburgh co-presented by Pittsburgh Arts & Lectures and the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh.
